Actor-director Dingdong Dantes made the entertainment writers very happy last Saturday night with an early Christmas-cum-thanksgiving party wherein he raffled off a lot of valuable gifts like flat TV sets, refrigerators, expensive watches, digital cameras, and microwave ovens.

"The year 2008 has been an exciting, fruitful year for me," he said and that’s why he decided to hold a dinner-Christmas party (at the Imperial Palace Suites), to share his blessings with the entertainment press. "There were ups and downs in my life but the ups far outweighed the downs, mas maraming magagandang bagay na nangyari," Dingdong happily expressed.

Dang Cecilio
Dang Cecilio
It was in 1982 when the word "Dang" became a part of the showbiz lexicon.

The sweet face behind the unusual tag belongs to Criselda Geronima Cecilio, who initially caught everyone’s fancy as the country’s bet in the 1979 Miss Universe pageant at Perth, Australia .

The beauty pageantry held world-wide attention due to the freak crash of a skylab off the coast of the continent down-under. In recognition of the international hoopla, a piece of the space object was used as a prop in the Miss ‘U’ stage. The drama did not end there however because just when Miss Venezuela was being crowned as the winner, the stage swarmed by the members of the press and various supporters, collapsed due to overload.

"Ang uwi ko, hindi korona kundi pasa, said Dang, smiling at the recollection. "Syempre, my instinct was to save myself, kasi nagpuputukan talaga yung mga ilaw. Others had bruises while some were hospitalized."

Excerpts:How did it feel to be living away from the comforts of home and family?Sobrang nakakanerbiyos, because I chose a place where I didn’t have a single relative. I felt like a probinsiyana going to the big city for the first time. It was a decision my Mom supported, and I never regretted it!My flat was not so hard to maintain—it was so small it could only accommodate three persons! Most important of all, I learned how to budget, because everything was expensive.Did you bond easily with newfound friends?

By Dolly Anne Carvajal - Inquirer

Dennis Trillo is ecstatic about his self-titled debut album (Indimusic, Universal Records). It contains 12 tracks, including a duet with Regine Velasquez (album producer along with Ogie Alcasid) “Magtatagpong Muli,” Ogie’s composition “Para Sa Iyo,” the Air Supply hit “All Out of Love” and Eric Carmen’s “Love is All that Matters.”

After proving his worth as an actor, Dennis is now bent on becoming a concert artist. “It’s harder to sing live than to act ‘cause walang take two,” says Dennis. “But singing is like acting. As an actor I get into character for the role to come to life. When I sing, I have to really feel the lyrics.”

Ara Mina
Ara Mina is already 15 years old in show business. Since she started in her teens, she has morphed into a sexy actress from a teeny bopper, has dabbled in comedy and became a regular of the longest running gag show in Philippine television, "Bubble Gang;" became a recording artist and has toured the world as a concert artist. It’s indeed an impressive list of accomplishments for the twenty-something artist and she attributed it all to her taking off her clothes in front of the camera!

G Tongi: Living out the Pinoy dream

Giselle Tongi
Giselle Tongi
The French call it joie de vivre. Loosely translated, it means "joy of living," or "joy of life," a genuine enjoyment of the every day. It's an attitude of embracing whatever life may bring, and it's a kind of zest that Giselle Tongi possesses, in spades.

"Oh, I would love to live in a place like this!" she exclaims upon entering the photo shoot's location, a model condo unit in the Glass House at Rockwell. She is bubbly, an abundant source of warmth and life in the cool sophistication of the location. Her laugh is infectious, frequent, and genuine.

For G, it's good to be back, even if it's only for two months. Back in 2000, she left the country and her local showbiz career for New York, to take a two-year course in the Lee Strasberg School of Acting. She left with a mission to bring the Filipino actor to the international stage, and now, six years later, she's back on native soil, being prepped for a pictorial.
